Post subject: Odor In Truck Wash Water Holding Tanks Reply with quote

Question: I am trying to control a musty, stale odor coming from my truck wash water holding tanks. They are partially open to the air and have a normal ph of 6.5. Do you have any products that would help and what would the application rate be per 100 gal? The tanks have a total capacity of approx. 2500 gal. Thanks for your help!

Answer: The odor is from an anaerobic process that will produce hydrogen sulfide gas via the Sulfate pathway. Add MICROBE-LIFT/IND as both will work for you. Start with 1 to 1/2 gallon then add one quart for every one to two thousand gallons per week.

These cultures can block the anaerobic production of hydrogen sulfide. You may also wish to add Sodium bicarbonate to bring the pH up to about 6.9 to 7.
