| Post subject: Can I Do A Water Change? |
Question: I live in northern Illinois. My pond has a clear plastic cover. I shut down my main pump in Dec. but have kept a small pump running all winter. The water temp. is still below 40 deg.f. I have alot of algae. I plan on removing as much as I can by hand. Can I do a water change with the fish in torpor and add water conditioner to remove chlorine safely. I used PL last spring and summer and plan to use it this spring and also try the clay.
Answer: Yes, we do water changes throughout the year, winter included. Just try not to disturb the fish while doing it. When adding and removing water, do it slowly. When water temps are 45F or above, you can use PL again. |
