| Post subject: Is Freezing Food OK? |
Question: Your latest article just released states that you should not use last years food. I always keep my Koi food frozen in 4 qt ltre milk jugs and have been told that it is ok to use if it has been kept frozen since purchase - Is this true or false?
Answer: Vacuum pack is okay, but freezing is not. Freezing food will break down the structure of certain nutrients in the food. When thawed, it also has excessive moisture which will rapidly spoil the food. If you can get a vacuum packing machine, that's what I would recommend. Otherwise, new food is best to use. |
